Saluting all our martyrs of the Rawalpindi Parade Lane tragedy! [we. condemn. terrorism. anywhere. and. everywhere!]

Dedicated to one of the most beautiful individuals I’ve had the good fortune of knowing – Muhammad Bilal Riaz Shaheed.

==

Last year, on Friday, the 4th of December, ’09, our truly beloved friend, brother, mentor.. a gem of a person, passed away in a horrible act of terrorism at the Westridge mosque in Pindi.

40+ others also lost their lives whilst offering the Juma prayers at the tragic event. As informed, Bilal gave his life whilst protecting his young nephew by lying over him and successfully sheltering him from the spraying bullets.

The nation lost a true eloquent leader, the parents their irreplaceable child, a fiancé her to-be hubby, academic institutions (Beacon House, PK; GIKI, PK; Imperial, UK) their blue-eyed alum, and all others who had had the privilege of having known him- a lovely lovely and truly lovely ‘dost’ (friend).

Please, please pray for his Maghfirat, and his journey in the Life Ahead; and for strength to his family and his loved ones who today bear.. an irreparable loss.

May Allah bless him with the Heavens *Ameen*

How Winners Are Made, Gary Raser

You should never give up on your dreams, Aisam-ul-Haq

” All my life I’ve tried to do something to make my country and my parents proud of me. It’s been a long tough journey, I want to thank all my relatives, friends and family for being with me through my up and downs. One should never ever give up on your dreams. ” Aisam-ul-Haq, crying his tears of joy after returning to Pakistan.

10 rules your kids did not and will not learn in school, Bill Gates

Rule 1: Life is not fair – get used to it!

Rule 2: The world doesn’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

A Beautiful Mind, All Love Can Be

“I’ve made the most important discovery of my life. It’s only in the mysterious equation of love that any logical reasons can be found. I’m only here tonight because of you. You are the only reason I am… you are all my reasons”
